Product overview

What it does, and where it fits.

The nozzle of a glass-lined reactor is where the glass is thinnest and most exposed to mechanical damage. A T-bush is a top-hat shaped PTFE sleeve that lines the nozzle bore and turns out over the flange face, protecting the glass from the bolt load and from anything passing through the nozzle, while sealing the joint.

The catalogue gives full machining dimensions — A across the flange, B and C on the bore, D on the oval sizes, E for depth and TH for wall thickness — across NB 2" to 20" plus two oval sizes, 12"×16" and 12"×18". The bush is machined from solid PTFE to ASTM D 1457.

Features

Built into every unit.

  • Solid PTFE top-hat bush to ASTM D 1457 — no steel body
  • Protects glass-lined reactor nozzles from bolt load and mechanical damage
  • NB 2" to 20" plus oval sizes 12"×16" and 12"×18"
  • Full A/B/C/D/E and wall thickness dimensions published
  • Oval shape available on request

Benefits

Why it earns its place in the line.

  • Protects the most vulnerable part of a glass-lined reactor
  • Seals and lines the nozzle in one solid inert component
  • Outstanding corrosion resistance to aggressive organic and inorganic chemicals across a wide temperature range
  • Non-stick, non-wetting bore — low surface energy keeps product moving and simplifies cleaning
  • Chemically inert and pure; no additives, plasticisers, stabilisers or lubricants to contaminate the process fluid
  • The lowest coefficient of friction of any solid, reducing pressure drop and deposit build-up

Applications & industries

Where it is specified.

Typical applications

  • Glass-lined reactor nozzle protection and sealing
  • Manway and agitator nozzle liners
  • Charging and instrument nozzles on GLR vessels
  • Retrofitting worn or damaged nozzle seals

FAQ

Questions we are asked about this item.

NB 2", 3", 4", 6", 8", 10", 12", 16", 18" and 20", plus two oval sizes, 12"×16" and 12"×18". The catalogue lists no NB 14" round size.

It applies to the oval sizes only — the catalogue prints a dash against D for every round size.

The catalogue prints 435 mm for that cell, which sits outside the progression of the surrounding rows. We have reproduced it as printed rather than correcting it; please confirm the figure with us before machining.
