Product overview
What it does, and where it fits.
A distance piece is a short lined spool used to make up the residual gap in a flanged run, or to give clearance for a valve actuator, an instrument or a removable item. It is lined and flared exactly like a full spool, so the wetted path stays continuous fluoropolymer.
It sits between the lined spacer, which is thinner, and the lined spool pipe, which starts at 100 mm. Distance pieces run from 60 mm to 200 mm face to face depending on bore, and carry a vent hole like any other lined steel component.
Features
Built into every unit.
- Carbon steel body to ASTM A 106 Gr. B with ASME/ANSI B16.5 Class 150 flanges
- PTFE, PFA or FEP liner across the whole NB 1/2" – 16" range
- Face to face 60 mm to 200 mm — closes gaps a spool cannot
- Vent hole drilled to relieve permeation pressure
Benefits
Why it earns its place in the line.
- Outstanding corrosion resistance to aggressive organic and inorganic chemicals across a wide temperature range
- Non-stick, non-wetting bore — low surface energy keeps product moving and simplifies cleaning
- Chemically inert and pure; no additives, plasticisers, stabilisers or lubricants to contaminate the process fluid
- The lowest coefficient of friction of any solid, reducing pressure drop and deposit build-up
- Completely resistant to hydrolysis with an excellent barrier to water permeation
- Steel strength on the outside, fluoropolymer chemistry on the inside — at a fraction of the cost of solid exotic alloys

FAQ
Questions we are asked about this item.
A spacer is thinner — 30 mm to 90 mm — and is used to take up small gaps or to blank a line. A distance piece runs from 60 mm to 200 mm and behaves like a very short spool.
Yes. The table gives the range we line for each bore; any face-to-face length inside that range is made to order.
