Product overview

What it does, and where it fits.

An equal tee takes a branch off a lined run at the full line bore, for a parallel train, a recirculation leg or a sampling point. All three faces are flanged to ASME/ANSI B16.5 Class 150 and the liner is flared over each of them.

The tee body is formed from ASTM A 106 Gr. B pipe, or supplied as an SG iron casting, with IS 2062 or ASTM A 105 flanges. The catalogue lists this item with PFA and FEP marked applicable across the whole size range and gives its liner specification as ASTM D 3307 and ASTM D 4894-19; the table below reproduces those marks exactly.

All flanges are fixed in the standard build. One fixed with two loose, or three loose flanges, can be specified where bolt holes are hard to pick up on site.

Features

Built into every unit.

  • Three flanged branches at the same bore, NB 1/2" to 16"
  • Fabricated ASTM A 106 Gr. B body or SG iron casting
  • All flanges fixed as standard; loose flange options available
  • Centre line to face 65 mm at NB 1/2" to 381 mm at NB 16"
  • Jacketed and stainless steel bodies on request

Benefits

Why it earns its place in the line.

  • Outstanding corrosion resistance to aggressive organic and inorganic chemicals across a wide temperature range
  • Non-stick, non-wetting bore — low surface energy keeps product moving and simplifies cleaning
  • Chemically inert and pure; no additives, plasticisers, stabilisers or lubricants to contaminate the process fluid
  • The lowest coefficient of friction of any solid, reducing pressure drop and deposit build-up
  • Completely resistant to hydrolysis with an excellent barrier to water permeation
  • Steel strength on the outside, fluoropolymer chemistry on the inside — at a fraction of the cost of solid exotic alloys

Applications & industries

Where it is specified.

Typical applications

  • Full-bore branch connections on lined headers
  • Recirculation and bypass legs
  • Sampling and drain take-offs at line size
  • Corrosive acid, alkali and solvent transfer
  • High-purity duties where metal pick-up is unacceptable

Industries served

  • Chemical processing
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Petrochemical
  • Oil & gas
  • Power generation
  • Pulp & paper
  • Mining & metallurgy
  • Agrochemicals & dyes

FAQ

Questions we are asked about this item.

The catalogue marks PFA and FEP as applicable for the equal tee and gives its liner specification as ASTM D 3307 and ASTM D 4894-19. Send us your service conditions and we will confirm what lining can be produced for your size.

Then you want the unequal tee, which lists NB₁ and NB₂ separately, or the instrument tee for small instrument branches.
