Product overview

What it does, and where it fits.

A cross takes two branches off a lined run at the same point, which saves a length of pipe and a pair of flange joints compared with two tees. All four faces are flanged to ASME/ANSI B16.5 Class 150 with the liner flared over each.

The body is fabricated from ASTM A 106 Gr. B pipe or supplied as an SG iron casting. All flanges are fixed in the standard build; one fixed with three loose, or four loose flanges, can be specified.

Features

Built into every unit.

  • Four flanged branches at the same bore, NB 1/2" to 16"
  • Saves a pipe length and two joints against a pair of tees
  • Fabricated ASTM A 106 Gr. B body or SG iron casting
  • All flanges fixed as standard; loose flange options available
  • Class 300 flanges and stainless steel body on request

Benefits

Why it earns its place in the line.

  • Outstanding corrosion resistance to aggressive organic and inorganic chemicals across a wide temperature range
  • Non-stick, non-wetting bore — low surface energy keeps product moving and simplifies cleaning
  • Chemically inert and pure; no additives, plasticisers, stabilisers or lubricants to contaminate the process fluid
  • The lowest coefficient of friction of any solid, reducing pressure drop and deposit build-up
  • Completely resistant to hydrolysis with an excellent barrier to water permeation
  • Steel strength on the outside, fluoropolymer chemistry on the inside — at a fraction of the cost of solid exotic alloys

Applications & industries

Where it is specified.

Typical applications

  • Distribution manifolds with opposed branches
  • Mixing junctions on lined lines
  • Combined feed and return connections at one point
  • Corrosive acid, alkali and solvent transfer
  • High-purity duties where metal pick-up is unacceptable

Industries served

  • Chemical processing
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Petrochemical
  • Oil & gas
  • Power generation
  • Pulp & paper
  • Mining & metallurgy
  • Agrochemicals & dyes

FAQ

Questions we are asked about this item.

It removes a pipe length and two flange joints, which reduces the number of potential leak paths. Support it as you would any heavy lined fitting, since four branches concentrate load at one point.

Then you need the unequal cross, which lists NB₁ and NB₂ separately.
