Product overview

What it does, and where it fits.

A lined ball valve gives full-bore, quarter-turn isolation with the ball, seats and body cavity all presenting fluoropolymer to the process. It is the default isolation valve on lined pipework because it shuts off tightly, opens to a nearly unobstructed bore and has no cavity where corrosive product can stagnate against bare metal.

The body is a casting to ASTM A 216 Gr. WCB, lined and flanged to ASME/ANSI B16.5 Class 150. Face-to-face dimensions follow the standard pattern for the range, from 127 mm at NB 1" to 300 mm at NB 10", so the valve interchanges with the lined non-return and plug valves of the same bore.

The catalogue marks PFA and FEP as applicable for this item and gives the liner specification as ASTM D 3307 and ASTM D 4894-19.

Features

Built into every unit.

  • Quarter-turn operation with tight bi-directional shut-off
  • Cast body to ASTM A 216 Gr. WCB, lined and flanged to B16.5 Class 150
  • NB 1" to 10", face to face 127 mm to 300 mm
  • Interchangeable face-to-face with the lined non-return and plug valves
  • Stainless steel body on request

Benefits

Why it earns its place in the line.

  • Fluoropolymer wetted path — body, seats and closure member all isolated from the process
  • Cast steel body strength with fluoropolymer chemistry inside
  • Outstanding corrosion resistance to aggressive organic and inorganic chemicals across a wide temperature range
  • Non-stick, non-wetting bore — low surface energy keeps product moving and simplifies cleaning
  • Chemically inert and pure; no additives, plasticisers, stabilisers or lubricants to contaminate the process fluid
  • The lowest coefficient of friction of any solid, reducing pressure drop and deposit build-up

Applications & industries

Where it is specified.

Typical applications

  • Primary isolation on lined process lines
  • Batch charging and discharge on reactors
  • High-purity duties where metal pick-up is unacceptable
  • Effluent, scrubber and process-waste service
  • Lines where exotic alloy valves are uneconomic

Industries served

  • Chemical processing
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Petrochemical
  • Oil & gas
  • Power generation
  • Pulp & paper
  • Mining & metallurgy
  • Agrochemicals & dyes

FAQ

Questions we are asked about this item.

The lined ball valve gives a quarter-turn, near-unobstructed bore when open. Confirm the exact bore for your size with us if you intend to pig or rod the line.

Yes — it is a standard quarter-turn valve. Tell us the actuator type, supply pressure and any fail position required with your enquiry.

Use the tightening torque table for the flange size — 30 N·m at NB 1", 60 N·m at NB 2"–4", 110 N·m at NB 6"–8" and 160 N·m at NB 10" — cross-tightening as with any flange joint.
