What it does, and where it fits.
This bellow is used in the installation of glass equipment for two purposes: to minimise the transfer of vibrations from rotating equipment connected to the glass assembly, and to accommodate the thermal expansion of any metallic, non-glass equipment connected to it. A pump or a metal vessel moves differently from a glass line, and this is the component that lets them share a joint.
It is similar to the glass-to-glass bellow in construction, but carries an adaptor bellow flange at one end. Generally this adapter flange is supplied undrilled, so that it can be drilled to match the configuration of the metal flange it must mate with.
However, the adaptor bellow flange can be supplied drilled as per Table E, Table F or ASA 150 standards if specified — the catalogue reference simply takes the corresponding /E, /F or /A suffix.
