Product overview

What it does, and where it fits.

The metal jacket does the same job as the glass jacket — circulating a heating or cooling service around the pipe section — in a more robust and more compact form. At every bore its outside dimension d is smaller than the glass equivalent, which matters where jacketed sections run close together.

The trade-off is visibility: you can no longer see the product through the jacketed length. Where that matters, use the glass jacket.

Features

Built into every unit.

  • More robust and more compact than the glass jacket
  • DN 80 to DN 300, 1000 mm standard length
  • DN 25 service connections
  • Smaller outside dimension than the glass jacket at every bore

Benefits

Why it earns its place in the line.

  • Mechanically tougher than a glass jacket
  • Smaller outside diameter — jacketed runs can sit closer together
  • Completely inert to almost all process media — no metal pick-up and no contamination of the batch
  • Full visibility of the process along the whole line
  • Smooth, non-wetting bore that resists fouling and cleans easily

Applications & industries

Where it is specified.

Typical applications

  • Heating or cooling a glass line where the jacketed length need not be visible
  • Congested pipe runs where jacket outside diameter matters
  • Steam or thermic fluid tracing of a glass process line
  • Temperature control along a column

FAQ

Questions we are asked about this item.

The metal jacket datasheet publishes no pressure figure, so none is quoted here. Send us the service medium, pressure and temperature and we will confirm the design.

Yes. The jacket is metal; the pipe section inside it is borosilicate 3.3, so the product still only touches glass.
