What it does, and where it fits.
A complete coupling is a set of two backing flanges with inserts and nut-bolts. It is the complete set of flanges required to make a joint — one reference instead of four separate line items.
Each coupling carries two backing flanges (LSCF) and two inserts (LSCN) of the matching size, plus the correct nut-bolts. Bolt diameter steps up through the range: 5/16" up to DN 150, 3/8" from DN 225 to DN 400, and 1/2" at DN 450 and DN 600. Bolt count rises from 3 on the smallest sizes to 12 on the largest.
Ordering the complete coupling rather than the parts separately is the safer route on site — the flange, the insert and the bolt length are matched by the catalogue rather than by whoever is assembling the line.
