Product overview

What it does, and where it fits.

A dip pipe passes through a vessel nozzle and delivers or withdraws fluid below the liquid surface. Charging above the surface splashes, foams and creates aerosols; charging below it does not. On corrosive duty the dip pipe is fully immersed in the batch, so it has to be lined over its whole length.

The item is specified by two bores: NB₁ is the dip pipe itself, NB₂ the vessel nozzle it mounts on. Face-to-face X is 150 mm across the range, and the immersed length runs from a 150 mm minimum to 5800 mm at the smaller bores.

The catalogue lists this item in PTFE with a liner to ASTM D 1457. An angular spool option allows tilting up to 20°, and divertors, extended flares and anti-siphon holes are available on request.

Questions we are asked about this item.

The range of vessel nozzle sizes the dip pipe can be mounted on. An NB 2" dip pipe, for example, is listed against nozzles from NB 3" to 24".

It lets the dip pipe be tilted up to 20° from vertical, which is useful where an agitator, baffle or existing internal prevents a straight vertical drop.

It breaks the siphon so the vessel cannot drain back through the dip pipe when the supply is shut off. Specify it if the dip pipe outlet sits below the source liquid level.
