Product overview
What it does, and where it fits.
A dip leg carries fluid below the liquid level of a reactor or storage vessel so that gas is dispersed into the batch, or liquid is drawn from beneath the surface, rather than splashing onto it. The lined version presents only PTFE to the batch over its whole immersed length.
It is supplied with a carbon steel body to ASTM A 106 Gr. B, IS 2062 or ASTM A 105 flanges, and a PTFE liner to ASTM D 1457. Lengths run to 3000 mm across the entire NB 1/2" to 16" range.
Features
Built into every unit.
- PTFE liner to ASTM D 1457 over a carbon steel body
- Lengths to 3000 mm in every bore from NB 1/2" to 16"
- ASME/ANSI B16.5 Class 150 flange
- Zinc epoxy primed external surface
Benefits
Why it earns its place in the line.
- Outstanding corrosion resistance to aggressive organic and inorganic chemicals across a wide temperature range
- Non-stick, non-wetting bore — low surface energy keeps product moving and simplifies cleaning
- Chemically inert and pure; no additives, plasticisers, stabilisers or lubricants to contaminate the process fluid
- The lowest coefficient of friction of any solid, reducing pressure drop and deposit build-up
- Completely resistant to hydrolysis with an excellent barrier to water permeation
- Steel strength on the outside, fluoropolymer chemistry on the inside — at a fraction of the cost of solid exotic alloys

FAQ
Questions we are asked about this item.
The catalogue lists the dip leg in PTFE only. Tell us your duty if you need PFA or FEP and we will confirm what can be produced.
A dip pipe is a two-branch item with its own nozzle size (NB₂) that mounts through a vessel nozzle; a dip leg is a plain lined leg supplied to length.
