Product overview

What it does, and where it fits.

A drain valve sits at the low point of a run or under a vessel and empties it completely. It shares the body, bore and face-to-face dimensions of the straight through valve, but adds a tapered drain leg below the seat — the D dimension in the table — so the contents fall clear instead of pooling above a horizontal outlet.

That D dimension is the one to check when setting out: it grows from 14 mm at DN 15 to 50 mm at DN 50, and it determines both the discharge rate and the clearance you need below the valve for a receiver.

Features

Built into every unit.

  • Tapered drain leg — no pooling above the outlet
  • Outlet diameter D from 14 mm at DN 15 to 50 mm at DN 50
  • Dimensionally matched to the straight through valve on DN, d, L and H
  • Borosilicate 3.3 body with PTFE spindle
  • DN 15 to DN 50 in five catalogue references

Benefits

Why it earns its place in the line.

  • Empties the line or vessel completely between batches
  • Visible discharge — the operator can see when it has run clear
  • Inert to almost all process media; no metal in the wetted path
  • PTFE spindle: no lubrication, no seizing, no contamination of the batch
  • Bolts straight into the borosilicate pipeline range with the same beaded ends and backing flanges
  • Smooth bore resists fouling and cleans down easily

Applications & industries

Typical applications

  • Draining the low point of a glass pipeline
  • Vessel and receiver bottom discharge
  • Sampling from the base of a run
  • Emptying between batches to prevent cross-contamination

FAQ

Questions we are asked about this item.

DN, DN1, d, L and H are identical size for size. The drain valve adds the tapered drain leg and its outlet diameter D, so the low point empties completely.

Enough for the D outlet plus your receiver — D runs from 14 mm at DN 15 to 50 mm at DN 50. Send us the arrangement and we will check it against the drawing.
