Product overview

What it does, and where it fits.

In azeotropic distillation the overhead condenses into two liquid phases that must be separated and returned or drawn off individually. This unit combines the glass observation section with separation flanges, so the interface between the two phases is both visible and physically separated in one item.

Because the geometry depends on the two densities, the flow rates and the reflux arrangement, dimensions are customised — the catalogue states that dimensions can be customised and designed as per customer's requirement. Diameters up to 400NB can be manufactured.

Flanges are cast stainless in CF8, CF8M or CF3M, with a borosilicate 3.3 glass tube and PTFE gaskets.

FAQ

Questions we are asked about this item.

The two liquids and their densities, the flow rates, the operating temperature and pressure, and the reflux or draw-off arrangement. The geometry follows from those.

No. The catalogue publishes no standard dimension table for this item because the separation geometry is duty-specific.

Yes — the PTFE lined tubular sight flow indicator also offers an azeotropic separation type on request, for corrosive service.
